What is the etiquette when replacing your garden fence with a new one?

When you are looking to replace your fence it can be a stressful time especially when you need approach your neighbours. Follow these tips to the best fence etiquette around:

  1. Send a letter to all neighbours concerned advising them of your intentions

  2. Give your neighbours time and allow them to contact you to discuss your fencing project

  3. Ensure your property line matches the official property line otherwise you may have to pull it down if not

  4. If you are your neighbour are on good terms you can both decide how the cost be split 

  5. If you have decided to build a new fence it is you who has to foot the bill unless the neighbours concerned chips in 

  6. The unfinished or less attractive side of the fence should face inwards (meaning your neighbours will get the best look
